1954 Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe for sale! Motorcar Classics is proud to present this superb Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe featured in Pastel Green with Dark Green leather interior and Black cloth soft top. The pioneering Jaguar XK120 Roadster was launched at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show and was an immediate success. This very stylish car had a top speed over 120 mph (hence the 120 name), and was tremendously good value for money being considerably cheaper and more advanced than any rival. It was the first car to feature Jaguars all-new 3.4L double overhead camshaft engine with twin SU carbs, which in various displacements went on to power all Jaguar cars - both sedan and sports, for about forty years. In 1951 a Fixed Head Coupe version was introduced, with a Drophead Coupe joining the range in 1953. Both of these cars featured wind-up windows, external door handles, and a walnut dashboard. Production of all models ended in 1954 when the XK140 was introduced.
Our car is reported to have been the subject of a frame-off restoration in 1999-2001. The car underwent a mechanical rebuild, new wood trim and full fresh interior. It has been cherished and enjoyed since with a further fresh brakes and suspension detail and service in 2006. The steering box was rebuilt last year.
This fine XK120 is fully-sorted and reliable. It is a delight to drive and perfectly suited to touring or concours events. Your inspection is invited.
