1959 MGA COUPE STREET ROD for sale. Motorcar Classics presents this ultimate British-American hybrid Street Rod. The car is featured in Maroon with Red interior and Black vinyl roof. The basis of this car was a 1959 MGA fixed-head coupe that had been damaged in the front end. It was professionally built by substituting a custom front end from the firewall forward. The engine is a real Ford 428 Cobra Super Jet V8 with Tri-Power carburetion. The motor was built by Richie Zul (W. Babylon, NY) who is known for high performance engines. The transmission is a Ford C6 3-speed automatic. It runs a 3.83 Ford rear with drum brakes and Hoosier tires all around. The custom racing headers have block-off plates to run the exhaust through the rear for street use. Or the exhaust can be opened up for maximum noise and power. There are only about 60 miles on the car since it was built. The engine is estimated to be putting out about 600 HP! With a curb weight of just 2,200 lbs., this car is FAST! Originally built to be a competitive Drag Race Car, it was never tracked, but it could be very competitive. Astute Ford performance enthusiasts will see that the real value here is the motor, which would be difficult to duplicate for the price of this entire car. So if you are a builder you can imagine putting this motor into a Mustang, or into a wide variety of other projects where it would be a huge asset. There is lots of fun and lots of value here for a very low price.
