1964 PORSCHE 356 SC/GT for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this meticulously custom-built 1964 Porsche SC/GT tribute car. The 356 SC/GT is a special low-production 356 lightweight production road racer. Six were built and delivered to a Northern California dealer and these few cars are held by Porsche conniseurs and rarely trade. Their high value means they are rarely seen on the road. The Car: 1964 356C coupe built to pushrod GT specification. A true representation of the factory racing SC/GT type car and built to the highest standards. The car is built on a clean solid chassis; floors, longitudinals, and battery box replaced. It has all the appropriate light weight modifications. Dramatically improved handling; an incredible driving car!
Body: All aluminum skins fabricated and installed for the hood, doors, and engine lid. Work was performed by Mark Barton at The Panel Shop; former Rolls Royce factory coach builder employees. Body was stripped to bare metal and has had a beautiful silver metallic paint job. Aluminum bodied SpyderGT mirror. Bumpers have the GT trim. Period original Hella Driving lights. Factory GT style plexiglass windows (7 pieces) are installed in all side windows and rear window. Stone guards for the headlights
Fuel System: Car has an 80 liter factory style fuel tank
Interior: Completely new interior SC/GT Red/Black Speedster seats, GT door panels and window pulls. Original Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio. Original factory type roll bar. Racing lap belts. Floors mats are the factory style rubber. Original SC/GT gauges restored by North Hollywood Speedometer Even the clock works.
Suspension: Improved torsion bars. Bilstein shocks. Whilhoit restorations 17.5 mm front anti sway bar. Vick Skirmants rear camber compensator. De-cambered front spindles to -1 degree front camber. Sport rear torsion bar bushings. Goodyear Eagle Sport 195/65/15. Wheels are 5 1/2 * 15 J KPZ. Suspension completely gone through. Correct original wheels with "Wheel Silver Clear" finish
Engine: The Willhoit engine that is a freshly built and dyno tested. Originally a type-616/16 SC engine; includes three-piece cast aluminum crankcase, special bearings, sodium-filled valves, Ferral cylinders and a host of other modifications. There are newly rebuilt Solex 40 mm Carbs, and with a big bore kit the engine now has about 155 HP instead of the original 95 HP. The gearbox is a Vic Skirmants limited slip box.
