1966 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 for sale! Motorcar Classics is pleased to offer this stunning Pontiac Catalina 2+2 presented in factory Platinum color with unique black 2+2 bucket seats & interior trim. This example originally came out of Virginia. The engine is a 421 338hp Series 54 bored out to .60 bringing the HP to 348. Specs include original Carter AFB carburetor, HEI ignition, TH400 Transmission, factory tachometer, red-line radial tires on original refurbished 8-lug wheels. A frame-on restoration was done in 2004. New wiring harness was also done in 2008. More recent service includes new top (2021), interior restoration (2021), refurbishing carburetor (2020), new HEI distributor in 2020, new diamondback redlines, new exhaust with flow master and mufflers. This 2+2 comes with a thick binder of service records, historical docs and records. The paint and interior is all in pristine condition.
Full-size Pontiacs, including the Catalina were totally restyled for 1965, with deep-set grilles, vertically stacked headlights, and a pronounced hood bulge. The sides of the body were curved with Venturi contours; a lower fin mirrored the shape of the fenders, and curved side glass was introduced. The real news for the 1965 Catalina, though, was the introduction of the 2+2 model with its larger 421 V8 engine and convertible semi-fastback two door hard top. Pontiac installed the 2+2 option on 6,383 Catalinas in 1966, but the company's records do not indicate how many cars with the option were sport coupes or convertibles. Of the total, 2,208 cars had manual transmissions and 4,175 had Hydra-Matic drive. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Pontiac history!
