1968 MERCEDES BENZ 300SEL 6.3 for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this very rare, Pre-Production Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3. This car is a hand- built European-Spec example of a Mercedes first production Hot Rod setting the stage for the AMG versions of Mercedes production cars that have become world renowned. The later production version of the 6.3 sold in the US market had 300 HP, but this particular car is a 400hp version. The Car was originally delivered in Italy and later privately imported to the US where it is registered and titled as a 1968 model year car. For over 20 years the car was owned by James Walgreen of the drugstore chain who cherished and maintained it. The car was originally delivered in Grey with a Brown corduroy interior. But it has been restored in Champagne Gold Metallic with Brown leather interior. The car is otherwise original including the Magnesium wheels and Metric instruments. The body panels are all original and rust-free. There is no evidence of the car ever being damaged. The suspension and hydraulics have been serviced and the car runs and drives well. Having sold numerous examples of the 300SEL 6.3 this car is clearly faster than any we have experienced as one would expect from having 25% more power. This is a very desirable example of an iconic Mercedes sedan.
