1970 CHEVELLE SS 454 CONVERTIBLE for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this stunning and meticulously built and restored 1970 Chevelle SS454 (Clone) convertible featured in Cranberry Red with red vinyl interior and black top. This awesome Chevelle SS is powered by a 454 engine mated to a date-correct Muncie 4-speed M22 Rock Crusher manual transmission. The engine build specifications are provided in the voluminous documentation included with the car. A complete nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration was performed on this convertible and it has a new power top, power disc brakes and power steering. The body is finished in cowl-tag correct Cranberry Red with red interior and features a cowl induction hood and factory hood pins. This Chevelle is equipped with original-style clamps, hangers, pipes and exhaust tips, correct original-style spiral shocks, 1-1/4 (F41) front sway bar and period correct front and rear suspension. The interior features restored bucket seats, restored original gauges, new wiring throughout, reverse lock-out key busser and neutral switch. The trunk is complete with a new spare tire and complete original jack assembly. This is an original California-built Chevelle. An NCRS report provides the production date, the dealer zone number and dealer GM code. The entire car and all components were professionally restored 10 years ago with the intention of creating a "Day 2" Chevelle SS LS5. Since the restoration its been in a climate controlled garage and approximately 500 miles have been added since 2008. There are over 40 pictures documenting the restoration as well as countless receipts ranging from radio speaker restoration to the engine rebuild. The original GM body and frame was taken down to bare metal and there was/is no rust whatsoever on this car! All components under the hood are authentic and period correct with the exception of the intake/exhaust manifolds and carburetor. Recent work includes a professional rebuild of the Holley Carburetor in December 2018; a battery replacement in October of 2018; and new period correct Radial wide Ovals were added in September of 2018 and have less than 20 miles of use. The convertible top is in great condition and the OEM motor works flawlessly. The convertible top has a glass rear window. The Chevelle has a power top which functions perfect and raises and lowers the convertible top evenly. The interior is spotless and presented in red bucket seats with matching carpet. The dash is original and shows no stress or cracks. All gauges and the original am/fm radio are working as designed. The glass is original all around. 1970 Chevelles are among the most popular American collectibles in the current market and this is the nicest example we have seen.
