1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Tribute for sale! Motorcar Classics is pleased to offer this freshly restored 1971 Chevelle "RestoMod" for sale. Presented in its refreshed and factory correct Burnt Orange paint, this 69,000 original mile California car has been subject to a full nut and bolt restoration.
THE BODY: This is an all original panel never rusted car. The prep and paint work was professionally done by Big Power Racing of Bayshore New York. The hood was upgraded to a cowl style hood at this time and the car was repainted the original "Burnt Orange" color it was born with. Black Rally Stripes were added and had firemist added to them to match the sparkle of the Burnt Orange.
THE CHASSIS AND FLOORPANS: The Chassis was prepped and treated with multiple Coats of Chassis paint. Rust preventative encapsulator was sprayed inside the Chassis rails to discourage any rust in the future. The floor pans and inner wells were also prepped and treated with Chassis paint as well, then sprayed with Eastwood bedliner. The original undercoat was left intact as it was as good as the day it was sprayed. It was all prepped before Chassis paint and bedliner were sprayed. As you can see, underneath looks fantastic.
THE INTERIOR: This beauty's interior shows like the day it was built. Everything is original inside except the bench seat cover and the carpet. Both were still in great shape but replaced to make it perfect. Additionally a "Retro-Sound" replacement radio, which fits perfectly and looks like the factory radio. It has AM/FM/MP3/ and Bluetooth with a Mic for phone calls with hands free operation. The speakers have all been upgraded with Pioneer Infinity speakers all around 46 in the dash and 69 in the back. It has a column mounted Sun Tach and Summit mechanical gages under dash, telling you all the important stuff, (Oil pressure, Temp and Volts). It also has a 3.5" monitor mounted under the dash for monitoring the Holly Sniper Fuel Injection system. There is also a Y-port installed for easy connection of your Laptop.
THE ENGINE: This is a completely rebuilt, 4 bolt Main, 496CI, 600HP, 454 block, with one piece rear main and 9.800 deck. Block machined on RMC, V-40, fully automatic CNC machine for the tightest and finest finish product anywhere. This block has been oven cleaned, (has no rust or scale), shot peened, magnafluxed and pressure tested. The block is freshly bored and torque plate, Moly honed to .060os. Block is also sonic checked to ensure concentric cylinder wall thickness after boring and honing. The block has been line honed, square decked and new cam, bearings installed along with new brass freeze plugs. All bolt holes are fine thread. This engine has a brand new set of lightweight fully CNC machined, Wiseco Forged Racing Pistons and Speed Pro Plasma Moly rings. These pistons yield a pump gas friendly 10.25: 1 Compression Ratio. New "King H" bearings installed on Mains, Rods and Camshaft journals. The Cam was upgraded to a (Howard's Cam's) "Big Daddy Rattler", hydraulic roller camshaft #128085-09 (lift .600 duration .583 @.050) and is turned by a Cloyes, double roller, chain and gears. Rods are Pro-Comp forged steel, H-beam cap screw with 7/16 bolts and Full Floating Wrist pins. They are 6.385 length (stock was 6.135), the increase in rod length produces less side load on the piston which results in less friction and more horsepower and torque through the entire RPM range. The Crankshaft is an Aircraft quality Pro-Comp, Forged Steel 4.250, 1 piece, rear seal Crank. The crank has been shot peened for stress relieving and has a full .125 radius on the Mains and Rod journals. This crankshaft is also Internally balanced and is the best of the best! Freshly Micro Polished journals with standard size on Main's and Rod journals. This engine is fully balanced on a RMC Computer Balancer and it is also blueprinted. Pistons, Rods and Crankshaft are balanced to less than 1 gram spread. Bearing clearances set at .002 on both main and Rods. The Cylinder Heads are new Pro-Comp Aluminum, Rectangle port, with D-port exhaust ports. Heads have been assembled with new one piece Stainless Steel Swirl Polished, Severe Duty, Qual cast valves. (2.25 Intake, 1.88 Exhaust) These valves are 11/32 stem and .250 longer than stock. A new set of Double Springs and Cromoly retainers with hardened locks and a new set of PC seals. These heads also have new Stainless Steel 1.7 ratio, full Roller Rockers, new pushrods, rocker studs, guide plates and a set of 12 point Cromoly head bolts with Teflon tape for best seal.
THE ENGINE BAY:A Holly Sniper EFI system with a Stainless Steel fuel tank, with a Fast Fuel electric in-tank fuel pump, in line fuel filter, all new fuel lines, (feed and return), Stainless Steel Lokar Throttle cable with Aluminum bracket,API Fluid Damper, and Ceramic Coated Headers. Also installed are polished Aluminum, CVF, frontrunner set up on front of the engine with all Chrome and Polished Aluminum accessories. Even has a Polished Aluminum remote reservoir for the power steering pump with Stainless Steel lines and AN fittings. All Coolant hoses are Silicone with a Heavy Duty Aluminum water pump and a Derale Performance, Aluminum Radiator with twin electric fans. Ignition is handled by a Holley Hyperspark Distributor, run through an MSD 6 Ignition Controller and is monitored by the Holley Sniper ECU. All the wiring from the main vehicle harness has been removed at the Junction box at the firewall by removing unneeded terminals. No Cut Wires. All New wiring has been run inconspicuously, covered in braided loom and mounted securely. The Factory AC system has been upgraded to 134a freon and a new receiver drier, evaporator and a Chrome Serpentine Style Compressor were installed using all Custom made hoses for a neat install. It has a High Torque starter and a High Output Chrome Serpentine style Alternator also.
THE TRANSMISSION: This is a 700r4 Transmission with a 2800 stall convertor and a shift kit built by "Freddie Brown Racing Transmissions" of Bayshore NY. The Tranny operates Strong and shifts flawlessly. It also has a hardened SFI Spec flexplate and a Lokar SS cable with polished Aluminum bracket. The Engine and Transmission both use Red "Energy" Mounts to keep it all in place. The Driveshaft is a heavy duty, thick wall, balanced unit with heavy duty U-joints to get all that Horsepower to the rear.
THE REAR: This is a Completely Rebuilt 12 Bolt Rear with new carrier and heavy duty clutches, new 4:11 gears, all new bearings and seals everywhere. Also has a "Perfect Launch" performance Diff Cover with Carrier Bearing Supports to aid in its strength.
THE BRAKES: This Chevelle has a brand new 4 wheel disc brake set-up! It starts with a brand new master, proportioning valve and vacuum booster, has all new anti-corrosion brake lines going to all new disc brake calipers with cross drilled and slotted Rotors. It has aluminum front calipers and GM E-brake style rear calipers. All E-brake cables are new as well.
THE SUSPENSION: 1" Drop Coil Springs all around, 1-1/2" Front Sway bar, 1" Rear Sway bar, Tubular Front Control Arms upper and lower, Tubular Trailing Arms in Rear with Adjustable "Jegster" upper arms. finished off with KYB gas charged shocks all around. The wheels are Rally wheels with Custom 10" in rear by Vintage wheel and the fronts are 7" with BFG, TA Radials all around. Dyno tuned and produces almost 450hp to the rear wheels.
