1971 MERCEDES 280SL ROADSTER for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this most impressive 1971 Mercedes 280SL Roadster featured in #291 Dark Olive Green with and Cognac MB Tex interior. The car has a matching Dark Olive hardtop and Dark Brown soft top. It retains the original Becker AM-FM radio and Mercedes-Benz air conditioning by Frigiking. This 280SL is a late 1971 model which was the last year of Pagoda production before the R107 series was introduced. The 1971 is particularly sought-after by collectors. Our car has Mercedes 4-speed automatic gearbox, which is particularly well-suited to the grand touring nature of the car. A most significant asset of this car is a complete and documented history file from new. The car was delivered locally by Lakeview Motors of Rockville Center, NY, authorized dealer at that time, in March of 1971. The history file includes the original purchase order, the invoice from Mercedes Benz, and all of the paperwork delivered with the car new including the warranty book, Mercedes Frigiking manual, Becker manual, and many more. The car has been cherished by its second owner for about 40 years and the history file contains detailed receipts and photographs of the best care and two major restoration projects. In 2001-02 a total bare metal cosmetic restoration was undertaken. And recently the car received a $26K mechanical overhaul.
