1978 MINI MOKE for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this charming and rugged 1978 Mini Moke featured in Metallic Green with White vinyl seats, piped in Green, and matching Green canvas full weather gear. Designed by the Minis legendary creator, Alec Issigonis, the Mini Moke was originally created for military use as an off-road vehicle that could be dropped from an airplane with a parachute to accompany troop landings. The civilian version of the Moke was introduced in 1964 and it has since become something of a cult classic having been featured in numerous films and TV shows. Mokes are staples of resort locations in the Caribbean and other locations worldwide. In addition to the UK, mokes were manufactured in Australia into the 1980s and in Portugal as well. Design rights to the Moke were also sold to the Italian firm, Cagiva, and ours is a late Cagiva Moke that is nearly new having covered only 1,911 kilometers. That is just about 1,200 miles! So this car looks and drives essentially as a near-new vehicle, which it really is! This Moke is powered by the minis 998 CC A-Series engine with 39 HP. it has a 4-speed manual transmission, front-wheel drive, independent front suspension, rear trailing arm suspension, front and rear rubber cones with telescopic dampers, and four wheel drum brakes. Performance is lively due to the light weight, and there is seating for five. The canvas weather gear is removable for a complete open-air experience.
