1992 Mercedes-Benz 230 GE Puch for sale! Motorcar Classics is proud to present this veritable Swiss Army knife on wheels, a 1992 230GE Cabriolet that was originally badged as a Puch and delivered to the Swiss military. Mercedes original "Gelandenwagens", better known today as G-Wagens, were built by Mercedes subsidiary Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Steyr, Austria. They were originally designed for the military, but also found such great acceptance in other applications that they were sold worldwide through the 1980's in almost all but the US market. They were built as two and four door wagons, pickups, and open cabriolets. The Mercedes build quality of the early cars is simply incredible and G-Wagens continued to be built in the Austrian plant until the 2011 model year. The early models are becoming collectible in the same way that Land Rover's Defender and Toyota's FJ have become, yet they continue to offer an unmatched combination of utility, durability, safety, road presence and style.
Our 230GE is a long-wheelbase model fitted with a clever and versatile removable soft top. It is powered by a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine, rated at 126 horsepower and 141 lb-ft of torque. Called "M102" internally, and shared with several Mercedes-Benz models from the 1980s and 1990s, it drives the rear, or all four wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case. Our 230GE Cabriolet was fully and meticulously restored and upgraded before being brought to the US. Restoration included new black paint, W463-style bodywork and lighting, black leather upholstery with diamond stitching, black canvas top, and black 18 AMG-style wheels. The truck is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-four mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a locking rear differential. Additional equipment includes wheel arch extensions, running boards, projector headlights, LED tail lights, and an Alpine stereo head unit. Additional luxury amenities include air conditioning, power windows, and heated seats. It has 4 bucket seats, plus inward facing rear jump seats, and a wood rear deck.
This great truck is in superb condition throughout and would be a great addition to your summer home fleet.
