The car was acquired by a well-respected Corvette enthusiast and expert in 2003 to fulfill a childhood dream of owning a particular Corvette that he had seen. He undertook a meticulous nut & bolt restoration to bring the car back to the exact condition and configuration as when it left the factory in 1966. The owner's efforts were rewarded many times over by the prestigious awards it has won, including: NCRS Top Flight at the Chapter, Regional and National level, Bloomington Gold and Golden Spinner awards at Chevy Vette Fest, and numerous other local awards. By virtue of winning all three major awards, it also earned the prestigious Triple Crown Award. It was a feature article car in the December 2010 issue of Corvette Magazine.
